Who Is That Tall, Dark Stranger?
When I was 19 my heart was won over by Mr. Sweep Me Off My Feet, Tall, Dark
& Handsome. If his looks had any deficits (which they didn’t), his personality made up for them. His beautiful blue eyes and dashing smile made my heart go pitter-pat.
Okay … so later I found out love is a little blind. He doesn’t put things where they belong, watches every sport that comes on television, stacks things, procrastinates, hoards stuff, leaves cupboard doors open, and takes books to the bathroom … for a long time. He snores, slumps when he sits, and leaves his shoes by the couch. He gets quiet when I offer to help him clean the garage and shuts clear down if I nag. But I’ve even come to love the annoying things about him … because that’s part of the entire package.
I also found out he’s patient, kind, honest, dependable, ”laugh-out-loud” funny, smart, and easy going. He forgives, wakes up happy, and sings in the shower. He eats anything I cook unless I mix up the salt and sugar. He loves kids and changes the cat litter. He puts up with my peccadillo’s, and doesn’t swear or yell at me. He helps me find my keys and sunglasses and tells me I’m pretty even on days I know I’m not. Sometimes he even brings me breakfast in bed. He’s a hard worker, a good provider, and helps me out when I get over extended. He’s always there when I need him, taking care of me when I’m sick and holding me when I cry.
I don’t miss Mr. Sweep Me Off My Feet, Tall, Dark & Handsome … I’ve really fallen for the time tested shorter and wider version. He is the man I love, the guy who 41 years later can still smile and make my heart flutter.

Neat tribute to a great guy. I miss staying up late talking with Lynn about sports, politics and computers.
That was a sweet tribute. Dad is a great guy and I miss seeing you both regularly. Living around the corner from you for a few months was a gift!
If my husband gets a whiff of his post, he’s going to expect me to write a nice one about him, too.
(;-D)Thanks a lot! (all kidding aside, this is such a lovely tribute. No wonder he brings you breakfast in bed. That, and the comment from Kim, speaks volumes about your family, all quite good I might add.
