Where in the world … are we?
Our adventures in the Motor Home this summer are bound to be unforgettable … I hope I can dutifully keep a going journal on it all. I know this because of how Friday night and Saturday went when we were in Vegas last weekend.
We were driving with the aid of a GPS and it did get us to where we were going to look at motor homes. The problem became apparent after that. We couldn’t remember where we had reservations for the night. We’d made them online at our sons house so it wasn’t on our computers and we hadn’t written it down. Okay, I know what you’re thinking … just don’t think it out loud, please.
We tried to call our son to find out where but he wasn’t home … So this is what happened late at night as we’re driving around confused …
Lynn: I think if we drove past it I would recognize the name
Me: Drive all over Vegas looking for something you’ll recognize?
Lynn: Well I think it was at the far end of the strip so we don’t have to drive all over.
So we drive, and drive … using the big tall narrow casino lights as a landmark … but we never get closer to it.
Lynn: I think we’ve crossed this road before going the other direction.
Me: Where the heck are we anyway?
Lynn: I don’t know, but I could at least find out where we are on the GPS I guess.
Me: (Looking at the blinking dot on the GPS) So that’s where we are, huh?
Lynn: Yep, that’s where we are.
Eventually we drove past it and my amazing man did recognize it … just for the record. But then there is the next day. I wanted a quick fast food to eat before we headed out. We rode around quite a while looking for the obvious sign of the Golden Arches that would indicate we were in the fast food section of town. Now how hard is that?
Lynn: What do you want to eat?
Me: Anything … I just need it quick because I’m getting nauseated.
Lynn: McDonald’s okay?
Me: No, I don’t want McDonald’s
Lynn: Wendy’s?
Me: No, I don’t want Wendy’s
Lynn: Taco?
Me: Are you kidding? For breakfast?
Lynn: Denny’s?
Me: I don’t want to go in
You get the drift? I bet we stimulated the economy with an extra ten gallons of gas just trying to decide where to eat and then find it. We ended up going to McDonald’s because we got tired of looking for Burger King. By then it was too late for the breakfast menu so I ordered a set of those new little TinyMacs … which are pretty good by the way.
So, I’ve decided my 3rd book is going to be about this old couple traveling all over the state of Washington in this great big motor home … what do you think?

This is really cool. Hope you have a wonderful summer. It will be fun to read about your adventures.
I solved our “where to eat” dilemma when we are road tripping.
We used to do exactly what you did. Until once after going thru this, I pulled into a gas station/convenience store and announced this is where we were eating. We did.
No longer a problem.
Perhaps you ought to leave for Seattle as soon as Lynn retires (next week) so that you will be there by the 27 of March
Of course this time you will have food with you …. so no matter …. take your time … and your GPS.
Sounds like a winner. I can imagine the snappy dialogue (from my own experience on car trips with my hubby, ‘specially the whadda ya wanta eat part!)
