two things to talk about

Oh gosh a golly … my pal, Alice, made the find of the year in this site.   I heartily recommend both sites as absolutely entertaining reading … especially, but not particularly only, if you are a senior citizen such as I.  I love when a blog makes me go “har har” or when it takes me back to a time in my own life that I haven’t thought of for a while.    Alice does that to me all the time, which is why she’s one of my favorite people now.    The second link is new to me but this 82 year old woman is a talented writer with a lot of opinions and she sees the world from a good place.  She does throw around a few words I try to avoid, but they aren’t the worst words I’ve ever heard either so you will have to judge for yourself if you want to go back.   I found myself so engrossed in her blog I totally lost track of the movie I was watching with my man and it’s not making any sense at all so I have to fake answers to his comments … you know, like when you haven’t really been paying attention to someone longwinded on the telephone?     I’m soon going to have to admit to him, though, that I haven’t the foggiest because this show, “The Seeker”, is one of those shows that I might not have even understood if I was watching it close.

We voted today.    They have several places set up around the community and we chose the Santa Clara Library and were really surprised there was probably a half an hour wait.    It was fun chatting with the people in line, though, and one woman told me her daughter is from Las Vegas and they have set up voting at one of the large malls there with probably 70 voting booths and they were swamped with voters     When we left they proudly placed “I voted” sticker on our shirts and when we later went to the Eye Clinic one of the doctors said, “Right on, we need all the votes we can get this year.”    I couldn’t help but wonder what he would have said if he’d actually known how I voted.    It’s kind of interesting that people assume such things as how you vote.   It’s kind of a character judgement, I suppose, and perhaps we should take it as a compliment.     I suppose we all tend to think we are the smartest when it comes to things like voting so if we assume someone votes the same way we so, of course they are smart too.   I’m fairly certain, however, he mistook us for Republicans.

We aren’t Republicans or Democrats and thank goodness we don’t have to choose one or the other to be able to vote.  If you ask me, or if you don’t, the Parties are not to be trusted.   From here on out it will get nastier and meaner.     Presidential elections take our nation to a bad place.   Adults start lying and doing all the things they teach their young toddlers and children not to do … like lie, scream, yell, and cheat.   It’s sad.

  1. They haven’t opened polls here yet, but I look forward to voting. It always feels good to vote even when it seems like my one little vote doesn’t make much difference.
