The emotional roller coaster this week has been dizzying. It hasn’t taken much to send me downhill since last Saturday but two people I have never met sure did more than their part to point me uphill again.

Tuesday morning I was having such a hard time thinking about little Ozzy that I couldn’t shake off the tears all morning. I was sitting at my computer and found myself praying really sincerely that I could get past this pain and start to mend. I remember thinking as I prayed, “Now why didn’t I do this sooner?” As I sat there I started to aimlessly do some searches on Bichons and came to a beautiful web site of a lady in Idaho by the name of Margie. I read how she raises her puppies in her house and saw the cute nursery she has for her “babies” and thought, “When I am ready to get another pet I will have to contact her”. Then for some reason I sent her an email and told her about Ozzy and asked a few questions about her puppies and sent her my blog address. She told me that maybe she had something that would “mend two hearts”. At first I thought, “Oh no, it is too soon” but when she sent me a picture of this beautiful little two year old female Bichon named Lady, I was just stunned at how much I was drawn to her.

Lady has that spunky look in her eye that Ozzy has, and … she’s smiling. The next email I got from Margie told me about her friend near Reno named Sandi , who owned this little Lady. The two of them felt so bad about Ozzy’s death they decided Lady should come and live with me … and to top it off … this little Lady from a long lineage of champions was to be a gift. I was just stunned that two wonderful women would reach out like this to someone they didn’t even know. Every time I think of it I am overwhelmed with the goodness of those two hearts. Their act of kindness has given me a warm, tingly spot that is doing its work to help heal that painful empty spot in my heart.

I thought of my prayer and how quickly everything happened, and wondered if Ozzy and Mom weren’t up there in Heaven together putting this all together. Mom and Oz could neither one stand for me to stay sad, I know. I like picturing them there together. Mother loved to sit with Ozzy in her lap and tickle his tummy. Margie’s website must have come up on Mom’s computer too.

Little Ladybug, as I already think of her, has recently had four little female puppies so it will be about 6 weeks before we go pick her up. That is perfect timing for me to get some organizing projects done and prepare for a new little fluffy member of our family.

I don’t know how many of you believe in miracles but I do. I also am so grateful that in the difficult times in our lives there are so many good people, strangers even, who reach out to help others.
