Stay home in the "winter" as you know them--and go to other parts in the spring and summer and fall? Sounds like the way to go to me. We often spoke of doing something like that back when I had cats. I figured that's the only way I'd be able to travel and take care of the cats at the same time. I've watched 24 and had the same thoughts as you. Too violent ultimately, so I rarely watch it anymore. I've never actually seen the show, but when I was in college my chemistry prof was a die hard fan so every week during the season on the day after the show we would spend the first 5 or 10 minutes talking about it... sometimes a nice break from class, but you could tell who watched it and who didn't!
