This ‘n That
You’re not gonna believe this but we FINALLY got the last of our decorations up! It’s December the 27th! Thank goodness we leave us up until after my birthday, which is January 10th. It is an indulgence I give myself more readily now that I don’t have small children of my own to control. Well, all we added were a few houses to our village set … so we have enough for the tops of all four large book cases.
I love my Wise Men. I have a thing for wise men! I notice these particular wise men seem to be walking above the star instead of following it from afar … I will have to move that quilt, now won’t I?
This is just my piano area but I wanted to sneak in the picture Warren sent me of his family and the awesome picture frame Steve made me out of metal. Note the wall needs patched? We are getting ready to re-do the living room walls. This wall has a built in book shelf behind it in the family room and when the kids put the movies back on the shelves they jar it a little too much … gotta come up with a way to stabilize it a bit more so it doesn’t knock things out of wack in this room! We got this piano just a few months after we were married It’s 42 years old today!
Normally where these book shelves are it is the entry to the kitchen/dining area or the hallway but since there are two families living in our house, we put the book shelves up to block these two rooms off so Lynn and I would have an area that was just ours alone. It is nice having grandchildren close by but old people such as we have to have some quiet time or we sort of get dysfunctional. Gee … I can see this is all way too crowded in our little apartment. Some of the decorations are coming down soon!
The door you see to the left of this picture goes into a small room where we have our television and computers. It’s a tad bit crowded! We gave two more large book cases on the far end of the room on either side of the fireplace … and if you’ve followed my blog you will remember we’ve already given away hundreds of books in our attempt to downsize! The picture doesn’t look all that great but the little houses look nice at night when the other lights are off. You see them from both sides of the book shelves.
Okay, so I wasn’t going to show this picture because that room is kind of “messy” from Lynn and I kicking back while we were recovering from the flu … but I wanted you to see the picture above. It was a picture that was hanging in my parents home from as long as I can remember and when I took it in to have it remounted and the frame fixed a little bit we found papers that it is about 120 years old. I used to love to sit and look at those puppies when I was a little girl as did my children and now their children. Little poochie on the green chair is beat today because she stayed up all night with me. She kept pleading with me to go to bed so she could, poor little girl. What a devoted little pal she’s become in the year I’ve had her!

That is so funny that you were still putting decorations up after Christmas. I only put up 1/3 to 1/2 of my decorations and I almost pulled out the rest to put up before Dave came…but then I realized I would have to put it all away just a few days later so I didn’t. I don’t feel any guilt for not getting it all up either!
