Thankful for The Internet

I’ve spend an incredible afternoon reading a very uplifting, heart rending story on the pages of a blog of a woman who lost her ten month old baby in a tragic accident June 15th, 2008..     She is a beautiful, talented writer and I have felt the combination of her mind, heart, and soul as she’s shared her feelings.    If you go to this blog make sure you have plenty of time … start reading at the beginning of the story … in June … and have a box of tissue close by.    You will be uplifted as you share her story.

There are many reasons to be thankful for these plastic keys and my link to the world through the Internet but what I am most grateful for is the ability to link to people so quickly.    I’m not from the generation of growing up with electronics and computers.    The Atari 400 was my introduction to computers and I remember being intimidated .. this without even going onto the Internet.     The male family members seemed to understand it right off and patiently explained how it worked … in language I had never heard before and didn’t understand.    Gradually I overcame the fear and fell in love, forsaking the typewriter forever.

When my daughter moved to Seattle it was the computer and Internet that saved my heart.    We were able to chat every single day and somehow that made the miles between us not so painful and lonely.    Gradually I began to step outside of my personal box and meet people from all over the world.      I never thought the day would come that I would bare my heart and soul to people all over the world … many who I would never personally know.

The blog I read this afternoon has made a difference in my life.   This families story caused me to gather some of the fragments floating around in my mind and put them where they belong.     Put them back into perspective.    I thank the you bloggers who do this for me; the ones who share their lives and give me reason to reflect.   I hope something I write does the same for you.

  1. Thank you for telling about that blog. It has been an inspirational reading time for me. I wish I were able to write my feelings as she has done and and you do…..but I guess my feelings are just that for me …feelings…unable to share just feel.
