Thank You Golden Corral

This afternoon my husband and I decided to go eat at the Golden Corral.    We like to go there because it is so easy to pick out just what we can eat and not pay for what we don’t eat in other restaurants.   We got there about 4:45 in the afternoon and were shocked to see lines of senior citizens lined up outside, across the parking lot and down the sidewalk of the stores next to it.      I have never seen so many people there, not even on Thanksgiving!

Then I remembered it was Veteran’s Day … well it was yesterday, but it was celebrated here today.      We rolled our window down and asked one of the people in line if there was a special because of Veteran’s Day and were told that all Veteran’s got a free meal … at every Golden Corral!  Whoa!    That is a lot of free food!

We decided to stay because the idea of rubbing shoulders with all those wonderful men really appealed to me.   And besides that Lynn is one of them.      We stood in line for about a half hour and it hadn’t moved, and   I hadn’t eaten all day and was getting loopy … so we decided to try it later since it went until 9:00 tonight.

But waiting in line with all those people felt like an honor to me!   Really, it did.    We could tell there were people there from World War II, Korea, Vietnam, and clear through until now.    What really struck me was what nice people they all were … most of them humble, funny as all get out, and honest to goodness good men.

I think it is a wonderful tribute to thousands and thousands of great men and women for Golden Corral to do what they did today,    I had no idea they’d been doing it for several years.    What a show of support.   Thank you Golden Corral for remembering them.

  1. That is really cool! I am glad when I see companies, schools, and community members supporting the vets.
