Selective Memories

I’m sure you’ve noticed my blogs have slowed down.   It’s not that I don’t have time to blog so much as that when I sit down to write and I can’t think of anything to write about except what the children are doing.

Today was Luca’s 1st grade Christmas program.    It started at 1:00 PM instead of 2:00 but when we got there at 1:05 they were waiting for us … if you can imagine that.   Luca forgot her Santa hat and they were hoping we’d brought it, but we didn’t have it.   The principal saved the day by offering her his and the show was a hit.

Tonight they decorated their Christmas tree … and put batteries in all of their singing Christmas toys.  Holy Fa La La La La.  The kids loved pushing all of the buttons at once and fighting over who they belonged to.     The tree ended up looking quite nice even with the unusual clusters of ornaments.

Grandpa was a trooper and let the children crawl on him and rearrange his clothes while I made dinner and Kim fed the baby.

Bed time is 8:30 so we were proud that we got them there by 10:00.    Kim still needed to do some grocery shopping so she and I went to the store and left the men home with the wee little baby boy.       Apparently he has an antennae that goes up when his Mommy leaves the premises.

So here I am at 1:30 in the morning trying to come up with a blog … and my brain is Jello.   It’s no wonder my writing career had to start at age sixty.

I have been amazed at my daughter’s patience while we’ve been here so I was surprised tonight when she said something to the effect of “I think my kids will only remember me being crabby.    You did so many fun projects and traditions and I don’t remember you being crabby.”       All I say is “whew … selective memories”.

Boy, can I relate to that! I’m sure you’ve noticed the bumps in my road to blogging. I don’t have any helpful answers to that either. What we both have to do is keep our links to other things in our lives besides writing. I know that getting out and about stimulates me (sometimes) so that I can get back to blogging. I don’t like to post drivel but that seems to be what I do a lot of, since if you don’t keep going, it’s easier to lose your momentum. Just know there are two of us in that same boat!
