School Days, school daze
Today was the last day of school for this school year. Can you believe it?
Two of my grandchildren graduated from Elementary School today so we grabbed our cameras and were off to see them do it! As their names were called I pointed and shot, but they were moving so quickly! One of my pictures was a blur of the basketball hoop over Faith’s head and the other picture was a blur of everyone just to the right of Steele. So much for scrapbooking from my camera’s shots.
Oh well, Grandpappy was there with his video camera recording everything and everyone; I can get some stills from that. Except … just before the end of the assembly he discovered his camera wasn’t focusing. What in the world is the matter with us? We have cameras that can practically run themselves!
Thank goodness my daughter in law had a camera and had dutifully stood near the front where she could take good close-ups of both children! Not so, Kimosabe! The kids moved too fast for her, too.
Grandma Cole? No, she didn’t even bring her camera because she was going to get copies from everybody else. What?
We were all a little bummed that not a single one of us succeeded in getting even a half way decent picture for the scrapbooks, until we looked in the little black folders the principal presented to each student and there, in cap and gown even, was a beautiful picture of each child along with their certificate of completion!
Hurray Red Mountain Elementary School principal and staff!

All I can say is that at least everybody remembered their cameras! Can’t tell you how many times I’ve forgotten mine.
Missing pictures or not having your camera when you would like a moment captured forever always tugs a bit on your heart. I’m glad it all worked out.
I’ve always been the main family photographer. Now I make myself leave my camera at home sometimes, and just enjoy the moment. For example, I plan to enjoy seeing my granddaughter graduate from high school on Friday without worrying if I’m getting the shot. The wise high school staff will have a photographer on duty!
