Ready for the 4th of July!
In spite of the rain, or maybe because of it, we went to the Walmart in Aberdeen. We took our shopping list: turkey slices (check), ham slices (check), eggs (check), milk (uh oh, don’t check), hot dogs (check), buns (check), potato salad (check), grated cheese (check) tortilla chips (check), black beans (check), produce (uh oh … no produce department).
What’s this? There’s also a 56 oz package of M&M’s, 4 packages of cookies, 2 boxes of Twinkies, 2 boxes of Hostess Cupcakes, 5 boxes of Pringles (2 salt and vinegar, 2 pizza, 1 hot baked potato), 2 packages of red and black licorice, 4 boxes of graham crackers, 6 Hershey’s chocolate bars, 2
bags of marshmallows, 2 24 packs of Diet Coke, and 2 24 packs of Diet Dr.
Pepper, and 3 12 packs of other pop … and gum. Not exactly a balanced diet but I guess we’re ready for the 4th of July weekend!
It’s raining cats and dogs. There’s a huge puddle beneath and extending beyond the edges of our “specialty front porch”. The kids have been forbidden to step outside in case they accidently step in it and drowned. The dogs can go out under supervision. We put a chair in front of the deepest puddle so that the grownups won’t disappear if they aren’t careful where they step. Kim’s tent is leaking so we threw a tarp over it. The children will be sleeping in the motor home tonight and Brett and Kim and their dog will be sleeping in the tent under a tarp. It’s looking like a wet couple of days here. Good thing we are stocked up on essentials.
So … Kim and Brett, their four children, their boxer Elka, Lynn, me, and Fresca are all in the living room of the motor home looking at the TV. If someone feels too crowded there is always the bathroom, but not for long since it is usually in high demand.
Lynn’s probably spent 3 or 4 hours a day getting our dish so our reception is maximum. He tells me that once it is set, it will forever be easier. He may be in crisis if that happens because he won’t know what to do with all of his time.
I’m glad I’m married to an electronics man. He hooked my computer up today with a nifty Wi Fi connector. My frustration level has just taken a giant leap upward. When we look for a place to stay for the summer our Internet and TV connections are a high priority. I was afraid we were going to have to move.
