Oysterville

We had been here almost a month before we discovered this beautiful little utopia just a few miles from our RV park.

This beautiful little church is one of the original buildings and is now the information center

This is the old school house … you can read about it below I think.   They used it until into the 1950′s.

I hope you can read this when you enlarge it.

The homes there are almost all old ones that have been restored by their owners.   They all have a little sign in front telling who the owners were and what year they were built.   Aren’t the flowers pretty on the fence?   It seems to be a reclusive little town now and Lynn and I wondered how many of the owners of these homes are writers.  They are for sure all nature lovers.IMG_4129

This is one of the smaller old homes.    I wonder how many people lived in this.   I couldn’t help but picture myself living in somewhere in Oysterville.   I think I’d fit right in.   It would be a fun place to write my novels.

This is a fairly good sized hill of oyster shells … There are piles of them all around the dock where the fishermen work.   This pier is before you actually get to Oysterville.

This looks like a lot of hard work for the fishermen … I bet by the time they get home at night they are pretty tired and cold and hungry.

IMG_4110  The afternoon we spent in Oysterville I felt like I was a kid on a field trip.    I was enthralled by it all.

  1. I remember Oysterville. Now you know why we loved Astoria and living there so much. I’m glad you’re having the opportunity to see all the beautiful places up there. We used to love to take road trips. There’s a place in Oregon close to Astoria called Kissville. I think that was the name of it. Just a little place at the end of a lane. Also, there is Swedetown on your way to Portland along the Oregon side of the river. You’ll have to go back to Cannon Beach, too. Wind around the side streets and you’ll find a place to park. I love your pictures. Have fun and I’ll talk to you soon. Love you!
