My Man
Written June 2007
I’m enjoying my first big benefit of retirement … visiting the kids and grandkids in the Seattle area. I had to come up without my man because unfortunately he has not yet retired. He has more years in than I do, is older than I am, and obviously has more stamina than I do because he could retire now but is working another year and a half so he will have 35 years in with the State of Utah. Fortunately, he enjoys what he does (working with networking & computers), feels challenged, is still learning … and never gets bored.
He has worked his share of crummy jobs over the years … put in his dues, so to speak … but I am ever so grateful for his work ethic and example to our children and grandchildren. He’s a man of integrity and good ethics and no matter who I run into from the many offices he services I hear what a kind, easy going, intelligent man he is and how grateful they are that he doesn’t make them feel stupid when they have computer problems.
