Grandma Henke

Alice asked me to post this picture of me with my actress friend. She was unashamedly name dropping one day on her blog and I told her that in 2003 I met a movie star at a rest stop along Interstate 15 and we’d really hit it off. This little lady has her own children’s television series and she and her co-star, who is also her trainer, were on their way to California through Utah. I can’t drop her name because I can’t remember it … I can’t even remember the name of their show. I know in her show she takes the part of a male, so I suspect she may be Bobo, The Detective Chimp. Her trainer explained that there have been a variety of chimps play this part over the years.

She took her four quarters to the pop machine and purchased her own drink … which I thought was rather smart. She seemed to understand a lot of English but she responded in Chimpanzee. She didn’t want me talking to and sitting next to her trainer (jealousy I suspect) so she sat between us and pretended we were good friends. When she put her arm around my neck I was very aware of her strength so I whispered in her ear that she was much prettier than I was and no way was I trying to move in on her boyfriend. She seemed to believe me and we parted on the best of terms.

Afterwards her trainer told me that because chimps are so strong she could have easily snapped my neck … so I’m glad the two of us hit it off like we did. My grandson, Steele, was soooo jealous when I showed him this picture.
