It’s Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas!

These don’t look all that impressive to non desert dwellers but to us who live among the lizards and Gila Monsters.   The kids here are ecstatic because on the 10:00 news they announced Washington County School District has decided there is no school tomorrow.   The kids think they will be outside playing and making snowmen all day but I have an inkling that there will be a lot of house cleaning done around the county in preparation for Christmas next week.

This picture makes me think of when I was young and my Dad worked for the State Road Department.    That was fifty years ago!   He was always being called out in the cold snowy night to clear roads.   He’d have to ride a big tractor type scraper with no heat and he would come home almost frozen.     There was many nights he got no sleep at all before he had to work his regular shift.     Between all of that he had farm animals to take care of and hundreds of mink to individually feed and water.   On top of that there were usually frozen pipes.     My Dad was one of the hardest working men I have ever met.     I hope he reads my blog from heaven and knows how much I love and appreciate him!
