Grandma Henke

I love to visit Virginia’s blog where she gives a daily fifty word writing challenge to her readers.   You can either leave those words as a response on her blog or take the challenge with you and expand on it with a link to her blog.     I’ve taken many of her challenges but this topic, the one entitled “I Dread” sounded like just the kind of therapy I need tonight as I am unwinding from romping through the lives of the unruly characters in the book I am writing.

So here goes … my fifty words

“I Dread” by ardent author, Edna Henke (sorry but I love the sound of that)

I dread the shrillness of the telephone after the midnight hour. It fills me with rampant adrenaline while unbidden scenarios flash through my mind, frame by horrifying frame.   Who is delivering this news that is so important it can’t wait for daylight to slip over the east mountain?
