Halloween Traditions
I used to be creative in dressing up the kids when they were younger and had fun taking them trick or treating, shopping, or into Lynn’s office. They got a kick out of me getting them out of bed for the day in my witch attire. I would make orange pancakes for breakfast and for dinner we’d have dinner baked in a jack-o-lantern. Then they turned into teenagers and went off with their friends and left me home with Lynn to answer the door for the trick or treater’s. We’ve put a lot of energy into Halloween frolics for children in the last 41 years but this year we are thinking of starting a new tradition … We are going to dress up as senior citizens who are ready for bed, and will turn out all the lights and retreat to our bedroom with a pizza and a movie.

You’re one of those moms who always had treats in your purse too, I’ll bet. I had a lot of friends like that. I wish my mother had gotten me out of bed Halloween morning dressed up like a witch.
Good luck with the novel. When you post an excerpt let me know; I’d enjoy seeing it. You can read mine by clicking the link in today’s post. I’m going to give it my best but I’m not going to get my stomach in knots over it either. Let’s just say it’ll make another story for Granny to tell the grandkids about.
