Girls Night Out
Last night was a “Girl’s Night Out” for my sister-in-law, Eileen, and me. We needed it. We went out to eat and cried over dinner as we talked about my brother (her husband) who passed away suddenly in January, and then went to the movie “Wild Hogs”, and laughed until tears ran down our faces again. It was a good choice of movies for us and it felt good to laugh and forget the current events in our lives for a little while. The two of us have pledged that this was the first of many Girl’s Nights Out to follow … for medicinal purposes!
Having fun with a gal pal is a worth making the time for and much cheaper than paying for a therapist! It’s been so long since I’ve done that I have almost forgotten how to be silly! For too many years my life has been full of “must do’s” and not enough “want to’s” and with my brother’s death, I have come to realize that I want to slow down and smell the roses instead of always working at pulling the weeds!
With my husband’s encouragement I have signed up for two book clubs and a quilting class. Hopefully I will learn to thread my darned new sewing machine and use up some of the boxes of stored material in my basement.
