Fixing Anna’s DS
Princess Anna, who is 5, is helping Grandpa … who is trying to fix her DS. Anna talks non stop … doesn’t even pause to breathe!
Anna: I’ll help you. I know how to do it. Can I help? What are you doing? Is that one mine? Do you know what you’re doing? I don’t think you know. Are you giving up? If you give up who will fix it? Why are you holding your hand on your glasses? You have to hold still but you are laughing. Why are you laughing? Why is there tears in your eyes? Is it because your glasses don’t let you see? Don’t take that out of there, you will lose it! Why are you doing that? Does this take a long time? Do you think you
can do it? Now what are you doing? Those are things you can’t click. How do you know how to read? Reading is impossible. My sister knows how to read but I can’t. Now what are you doing? Finding nothing? I think you are finding Luca’s now. Have you found mine yet? Why are you whispering? Are you whispering that you found mine? You mean you’re talking to yourself that you found mine? Why is there two of those. There should only be one, you know? Everything is possible you know. Grandpa, why would you pull your own hair? What does that mean? Did you lose it? You’re going to drop it! Are you almost done? When will you be done? I’m glad I can help you. Is it done? Does it work? It works! Yay for Grandpa!

That gave me a good laugh because I’ve been in the same situation as Grandpa when I mow the law, replace the vacuum bag or pull out any tool and attempt to fix something around the house. Fixing the item is usually easier than answering Anna’s questions.
Your princess sounds a lot like our princess who’s four years old. Aren’t they great! We’re so lucky to have one, aren’t we?
Hee… That Anna has all the makings of a fine attorney. I hope you’re saving for law school already.
