Easiest Best Stew Ever

The wedding present that has got the longest and most use in the last 41 years is our Wagner Ware Magnalite Roaster 4265 P … and that is what I cook the Easiest Best Stew Ever in.   (There’s a bunch of them on sale on ebay.

This stew never fails to get compliments.

Peel & Cut Potato’s into fair sized pieces Use either baby carrots or peel & cut carrots into a little smaller pieces than the potatoes

I also add a cut up onion (unless I’m making it for my son in law who hates onions, then I use a little onion powder)

Stew Meat … I cut off the fat and make the chunks at least 1 1/2 inches

Celery … including the greens … cut up

I put a bit of seasoning salt on all that and stir it up and cover it with 2 cans of Golden Mushroom Soup (My pan makes about 4 quarts of stew)

I put all this in the oven at 335 degrees and cook it 3 hours.   It makes its own stew and I promise you you’ll get compliments.    Often when it is done I stir in a couple of cans of drained green beans and just leave it with the lid on in the oven for another 10 minutes or so.

  1. Oh man! Now I want to get me one of those pans. That is the greatest roasting pan. And now I am going to have to make some stew. Didn’t we used to call it “Sunday Stew” because the cooking time was the same amount of time we were at church?

  2. I could eat it everyday and be perfectly happy, albeit a little bit overweight.
