Don’t Worry! Be Happy Now!
The last two days I have made two lists of one hundred things: one of things that make me happy and one of things that don’t make me happy. Here is my purely scientific discovery: It is a lot more fun to think happy thoughts. There is power in positive thinking. When I started writing both blogs I was feeling fine … good. After writing about all the things that made me happy I was pretty pumped up and happy. I was definitely grouchy after writing the 100 things I don’t like.
Generally I make a big effort not to focus on things that are irritating because .. well because I like being happy. One negative thought leads to another .. and another .. and pretty soon it brings you down. Why in the world I made the second list I have no idea … It was a dumb idea.
I don’t know all the names of things (like endorphins) that get released or not in your brain that affect your moods but I believe I did … or didn’t … trigger the right response on the second list. So … don’t spend time reading the blog about the things I don’t like. It will put you in a bad mood … It might even make you grouchy. I should put a WARNING sigh on it.

I love that baby’s happy face!
You’ve really hit a big truth with a capital T with this post. I found the same thing when I was blogging about “whiny” things. The more complaining I do, the worse I feel about the state of the world. I don’t mean we don’t have the right to write our opinions about negative things, but it’s just that I feel better when I’ve written light-heartedly about even the bad stuff. So most of the time you won’t find negative posts on Wintersong. Now if I can just keep thinking of things I really want to write about…that can be done with humor… it can be a problem sometimes. But that’s the way I like it.
