Dear Santa

I have been trying to decide if I’ve been a good girl this year … I think for a Grandma and a senior citizen I haven’t done so bad.     Maybe I’ve been good enough to get some of the things on my list.

I need a memory upgrade for my brain.    It didn’t used to be a problem but I’ve noticed lately that it crashes now and then without saving.   It normally isn’t a problem because now that I’m retired there isn’t a lot that needs saved … but in the crashes I have lost a lot of the backed up names of people I’ve known for my whole life.

I have a new bed frame … and it’s really beautiful … but I need a new box spring and mattress that understands about arthritis and fat hips.

I would like a dumpster of my own … just park it in my driveway in front of the garage.   It should be easy to load from there … Make sure it is an extra large one if you could because we have lived in this house for almost thirty years and have been married forty one.

I need a “finding” device.    It needs to be versatile enough to find earrings, car keys, glasses, purses, shoes, and things that are in the boxes stacked in the storage room.

If you have an extra elf I could use somebody to house train my dog.   She is afraid to go outside because she doesn’t like anyone to watch her and there are a lot of kids in our neighborhood who thinks she is cute.   My husband doesn’t think it’s cute when she goes in the house.

Do you think you could send me a coupon book full of airplane tickets?    Half of my grandchildren are in Washington and the other half are in Utah.    It’s a twenty hour drive because of my bladder.

I have a membership to the gym but it would really be nice if someone could do the exercising for me.    If they will do that for me I will eat for them.

There are now twenty seven people in our family.    I’m sure you will be visiting all of them on Christmas Eve … Do you think you could possibly have your elves visit them before then and sprinkle their homes generously with the true Christmas spirit?      I think if they were all remembering Jesus they would probably feel a lot of love for each other and want to express it somehow.      It never hurts to know you are loved.

It would really be neat if I could have a clean house all at once … so I don’t have to hide the things I don’t get done in my bedroom or the office;   Somebody always ends up looking in those rooms and it is so embarrassing.

I wrote a book this year …   Maybe you should read it and let me know if it’s worth trying to publish.    Do you know any publishers?

I know you’ll do your best.   You always do.

         Thank you, Santa,

              Grandma Henke

P.S.  Thank you for spell checker … that really helps!

  1. You’re so cute! I love your imagination, and yes! Though I’m not Santa I’ll bet that book is publishable. Few writers publish first drafts, however, so it may need some editing. After Christmas look at it and see what you think then. Am I right, Santa?
