I am so happy your family has a wheel, Uncle Earl! I think I will have to have one made by next Christmas ... that is definitely a tradition that should continue in our line too! Love you!

So as not to lose the family tradition of the wheel, I built one like Dad's and we have been spinning it each year. At our lastChristmas Party (2011) we had 64 family members spin it - and it goes on. Hope you are doing well. Love, Uncle Earl

Oh, my! Fire and hair spray--not a good combination!

Taking music (and kids!) to nursing homes is such a wonderful work. When my mom was in a nursing home, it was lovely to have a musical event to attend together. And when my grandkids would go to visit her, every eye in the place would be on them.

Oh my! This is hilarious! So clever. I vaguely remember a Christmas letter you wrote in 'scripture' (at least I think/hope it was you). I just remember that I thought it was genius and so much more fun to read than the average family newsletter.

It was right after that candle hair burning incident that they invented these cute little battery operated candles. It's a good thing too - do you remember the 2002 SLC Olympics where everyone had a battery operated candle? Can you imagine the hair loss in that crowd if they had used real candles? :) Love your memories!

A bittersweet, poignant post. I wish you had the spinning wheel back. Mostly, I wish you improved health and to be completely clear of the bronchitis soon.

Merry, merry Christmas to you and yours, Edna. Best wishes for an endlessly blessed 2012!

That was one of the fun things of christmas at Grandpas'!
It was always so fun when you hit a Red Spot and got to choose a prize. We built a spinning wheel and used it for our own kids and grandkids (using grandpas bicycle wheel idea) and the kids loved it. Kathy now owns ours.....so the tradition continues on.

That is one of my favorite Christmas memories!! Coming over to your house and spinning the wheel! I loved it! That is so sad it is missing now. Time to build a new one and pass the tradition along.
