Can You Hear Me Now?
Living in a 34 foot motor home has been an enlightening experience. There are just two of us and a little white dog but the only time we aren’t in full sight of the other person is when we are in the little bathroom with the door shut. Yeah … any sound from the bathroom is clear as a bell in a 34 foot motor home.
Off and on throughout the day I sit on the sofa with my lap top and Lynn sits at the table with his. We click away and talk. Lynn tells me all about the sports news and the finance market. I tell him all about the kids and who’s on Facebook. I chat with the kids on instant messenger and he, being old fashioned, calls them on the phone. Thank goodness for Internet and cellular phones!
Lynn played baseball and boxed today on Wii while I was sitting at the couch reading a book. I almost got knocked out!
You can tell it’s time to do the laundry when the dog can’t climb over the pile of clothes to get out of the bedroom.
One of us can be in the bedroom almost asleep and the other one will take the lid off a can of peanuts. “What are you eating?” we’ll shout. Nothing gets past either one of us. There is no snitching a piece of anything and have it go unnoticed. Even the dog has tuned in to the sound of packaging being opened no matter how quietly it is done. Everything has to be shared.
We have to time the showers so there is time for the water to be plenty hot for the 2nd person … and to be sure there is no scalding, there must be no toilet flushing or water turned in anywhere else in the motor home.
We have laughed more in the last two months than we normally have done in a year. Everything is funnier in here. I mean even the narrow, one way hall is funny.
We can hold a normal voice conversation with one of us is in the frontroom and the other one in the bedroom. It’s quite the reverse of cellular phone advertisement where they are always shouting, “Can you hear me now?”
Yes-sir-ee, there is nothing brings you closer than living in a motor home and no, we aren’t sick of it yet! We love it!

So cool that you guys are having so much fun in your motor home.
Certainly you have both tried to squeeze down that hall at the same time, right? Any interesting developments as a result?
Webcam. We Want Webcam!
Some of this sounds just like living in our “modern” house (the shower part and not using water anywhere else while somebody’s showering). Thanks for the details of living so close to your best buddy. Thank goodness that’s the way it for you two!
Well,I think Dennis and I would probably kill each other if we were confined in a place like that…maybe not, who knows? Good thing you two are so compatible. We have the same problem with our showers…I have been burned more than once!
