Can I Vent Again?
Lynn was subpoenaed to appear in court today for the third time as a witness against the owner of the pit bull who killed my small Bischon last year while we were camping. Surely the 3rd time is the charm and this dog won’t be allowed to hurt anyone else. This time it attacked a man who was walking down the street.
The dog was supposed to be kept on a leash and muzzled whenever it wasn’t secured in this woman’s back yard. She said it “always” is but this time they were just getting home and the dog was going from the car to the house when this man “taunted” it and made it attack him. Give me a break!
This was the 3rd judge she has gone before with this dog claiming it is picked on and innocent, claiming Lynn has lied each time about what happened (helloooo .. there are police reports to back it up) and that our Bischon, who was on a leash being walked by our grand daughter, attacked her pit bull (that ran down the street from three campsites away so our dog could kill it, I suppose.)
I try not to think about it a lot anymore but I really get upset to think this dog has been allowed to hurt someone else. I knew it was just a matter of time. Thank goodness it didn’t attack a child but the man it did attack is lucky it grabbed him by the hand and arm and not his neck.
We don’t know the final verdict as Lynn was dismissed and asked to leave after he testified. He thinks the judge was giving him a chance to get away before it all ended so he wouldn’t have to deal with this lady and her boyfriend. I can’t imagine they would take the chance that this animal could attack someone else. They shouldn’t have taken that chance after Ozzy was attacked and killed in a public camp ground.
I love animals but you can’t let irresponsible people have dangerous pets, no matter what species. I don’t know how many times I’ve heard the statement “Pit bulls are a friendly breed” and how many times I’ve read in the newspaper that a pit bull that has never shown aggressive behavior before has seriously injured someone it suddenly attacked. Every time I hear about it I shudder.

Yes. Vent.
It’s an outrage.
Any dog – ANY dog will bite/attack for seemingly no reason.
This owner needs to be fined heavily and pay somebody or do community service for being irresponsible.
We have runners in our neighborhood who allow their dogs to run with them – off leash (we have a leash law.) It’s only a matter of time before one of those dogs gets anothe dog or person.
I hate that the dogs get blamed for dumb owners.
BUT: pitbulls are not just another dog! (just wanted to clarify that)
