Brillante Weblog Premio-2008
Oh how awesome! How did I miss following through on this cool nomination from Krista clear back in August? Maybe it was because I was in Seattle being Grandma that month. So, she thinks my blog is “Brillante”! What a compliment! It means a lot it comes from someone I have grown to respect because of her uplifting blog and her positive outlook on life.
This seems to be a “pass forward” compliment … so …
Once an award is received, the rules are:
1. Put the logo on your blog.
2. Add a link to the person who awarded you.
3. Nominate at least seven other blogs.
4. Add links to those blogs on your blog.
5. Leave a message for your nominee on their blog.
The people I nominate are:
Brett Nordquist who happens to be my son in law and the person that convinced me that I would love blogging … and he was absolutely right. Brett’s blog sometimes has technical stuff I don’t quite understand but often it has articles about fatherhood and relationships with children. It’s a blog father’s, mothers, and grandparents would enjoy.
Kim Nordquist is the other half of Brett, and it isn’t just because she’s my daughter that I nominate her for this award. Her blogs are full of useful information for busy mothers and are written with humor and good style. She has a way of presenting the cute things children say that takes you back to when your own children were little (if you are an old lady like me).
All About Food Storage is another excellent blog if you like good healthy food and yummy recipes and are trying to cut back on your grocery bills. She is full of ideas and suggestions to help you in today’s economy. Okay … so she just happens to be a daughter-in-law … but I promise you I am NOT prejudice and her blog is well worth your time to visit.
Warren has an excellent 14 day journal on his blog of the recent trip he took to South Africa with his 14 year old son, Curtis. He is an excellent photographer and you won’t want to miss browsing through his pictures. I’m sure you’re going to quickly pick up on the fact that … yes … he is my son. It really is a “Brillante” blog.
If you haven’t already taken a to advantage of the chance to a free download of Ryan’s first album you’ll want to before this offer is no longer available. Ryan, of course, is another of my son’s … the musician of the family … and this album is amazing. He did everything on it … everything … from his home music studio.
Switched At Birth is just plain fun reading. I’ve only recently discovered this blogger but I enjoy her writing style and her latest blog absolutely looks delicious! I absolutely, positively love collard greens!
I’ve been hooked on Mike’s blog for several months now, ever since I was introduced to him by my daughter, Kim. I like his political positions … so far at least … and he’s another fun to read father. I am trying to talk him into writing a book.
Becoming Something is a blogger that never ceases to amaze me because of what I can only surmise is her “never ceasing energy”. She’s a bit graphic in her quest to house train her new puppy but there are no pictures so you’re safe! She’s a Canadian with a very unique writing style and her topics are always interesting and well written … plus she has a quirky sense of humor.
I would be amiss if I left out two of my long time favorites that I have recommended to you many times before. First Fifty Words is written by Virginia DeBolt. She picks topics and her readers write about those topics in fifth words. They are fun writing exercises and often good ideas for a blog.
And my very first blogging buddy and good friend, Alice at Wintersong whose plethora of topics amazes me. Almost every time I go there I say to myself, “Why didn’t I think of that?” It is Alice who is responsible for my first novel because she said, “Sure you can! Go for it!”
I’ve left off some good blogs I visit. These are just a few of the talented writers I like to follow. The Internet is fascinating, isn’t it? It brings people with like interests together who would otherwise never cross paths. I love the cyber friendships I’ve made the last few years since Brett introduced me to this new social culture.

Thank you for the award! I was lucky enough to get one of these from another blogging friend not long ago and pretty much used up my “passalongs” for the moment, but I really appreciate your kind words. My “blog-rolling” manager (blogrolling.com) has been having problems & I had not been able to add any new ones, but yesterday I finally took the time and redid all of my links by hand and so have finally been able to add your site. (Re collard greens — I hated them as a child, love them now, too.)
Hmm, uplifting and positive… interesting. I guess mostly because my entire extended family reads this blog so there’s not a whole lot I can complain about (especially relating to people)
Edna
Bless you for your compliments. When I need a lift, I just need to look you up.
It’s a good thing you live so far away so that I can keep my signed Sarah Palin posters up with no fear of discovery. j/k.
I know most of the blogs you mentioned and wholeheartedly agree with your expert analysis.
Edna, I missed this post for a long time because of my getting sick and the trip to Florida and stuff. Like Beth I received the same award from another blogger friend, so I added my thanks to you in that sidebar. I really appreciate your nice comments about Wintersong. Half the time I only have a vague idea of what I’m going to write about anyway, so I’m sometimes as surprised as anyone at what comes out. I look forward to being included in the “acknowledgements pages” of one of your books sometime not too long from now! I know it’ll happen.
