At a Loss for Words?
Here are some fun new words that were recently made official and they will become a part of future dictionaries. In an article by Betsy Towner there is a list of 50 words in our latest edition of the AARP Bulletin. You would expect to find words like viral, unfriend, and tweet but here are my five favorites from their list:
* automagically, which means something that automatically happens but in a way that might seem magical.
* bargainous, which means something cost less than you expected it to cost
* catastrophize, means that something has been presented in a way that makes it sound worse than it was
* frenemy, is a friend who you have a lot of conflict with
* staycation, which means just what it sounds like … a stay at home vacation
I think I’m going to start some new words of my own!!!! Let’s see if I can get these into the dictionaries! Have you got some you want to add?
* retiremobile, a motor home owned by a senior citizen
* travapal, a friend you make while traveling

Love your ideas the best! Is “staycation” not already a word? hehe. I use it all the time!
I love those new words….all of which I can see me using in my much appreciated aversion to using queens english at the best of times! haha
Oh my goodness! You have provided me with what just might be my very favorite word ever: automagically! I’ll have to find a way to work that into a post … maybe something along the lines of how becoming a grandma makes one automagically special! Love it! Thank you!
