And More Ocean white With Foam ….

Last night on the news we heard that the swells on the ocean would be around 35 feet high up and down the Oregon coast so to today we gathered up a picnic lunch, cameras, and my crocheting and headed for a place where we could watch. We tried several view points and every one of them seemed more spectacular than the one before. The swells are actually higher than they look in the picture!
The unrelenting force behind the waves that exploded on the massive black rocks that dot the coastline reminded me how frightening nature can be when it erupts in anger. We are fairly insignificant in comparison. It was mesmerizing to watch and we were enthralled for a good five hours as wave after towering wave swelled, rolled in, and then came crashing down creating what almost seemed like a magnificent firework display. All afternoon people from Crescent City were drawn there.
We hadn’t realized what a rare event it was until a man from the Chamber of Commerce stopped by to ask if we were enjoying their show. Shows like this don’t happen every year … we were lucky! So, of course, you know what I am grateful for today.
We stopped and got Chinese food to bring home and enjoy … mmmmm another thing to be thankful for!
I think it will be hard for us to settle down to normal living again … we like being vagabonds.
P.S. Photo’s by Lynn … Check out the stork … The birds were loving it too!

Wow, I would have loved to have seen that. Dad got some amazing pictures. The one of the stork should be a postcard or in a magazine.
I keep telling her they are PELICANS not storks. But if she wants to call them storks it is OK by me.
Don’t storks have longer necks?
Those are awesome pictures. I just LOVE the coast! And thanks for the cool picture of the bridge in Newport.
He does keep telling me they are pelicans and I KNOW they are pelicans so why do I keep calling them storks. Storks carry little bundles of babies hanging from their beaks … geez.
Does NOT sound like you’re rushing to get back to St. George. I’m glad you can enjoy the coast for a few weeks and keep snapping gorgeous pictures for us.
Gorgeous pictures. Sounds like you’re having a wonderful time. Inching yourself closer to home? It’ll be good to see you again and hear about all your adventures. Miss you both.
How awesome those pictures are! I’m so glad you are having this time together – there isn’t a good reason why you cannot keep it up is there? Have a good time while you can and while you have each other to enjoy it all with!!!
We loved watching the waves along the Oregon coast. Nothing like what you saw, but still beautiful.
