A Trip Down Memory Lane

I was going through some old slides today and boy did it bring back memories! It is good to go back and look at pictures now and remember the “good old days”. These were taken at Christmas in 1976.

First afghan

This is probably the only picture of the afghan I made in high school. I don’t think I have this afghan anymore so I’m glad I found the picture. I remember how proud I was when I finished it. I am snuggled up cozy beneath it as I tend “the boys” as they play with their Christmas toys … I know, I know … I am tending them with my eyes closed and visions of sugar plums dancing in my head … but they got up so early Christmas morning and I was pregnant with Kimberly at the time. I can almost feel the nausea!

Christmas boxes

The toys they played with, as you will notice, were not toys at all. They absolutely loved the boxes their toys came in and played with them non stop for about three weeks until they started to fall apart. We called these two “the boys” because they were a year apart and inseparable … where you found one you found the other and it was usually getting into something.

blanding family room

Oh how I loved our family room in this home in Blanding, Utah. This shot shows about 1/3 of it. It was about twenty feet wide and fifty feet long with built in cupboards on both ends to store seasonal things and crafts etc. Once we had a pizza party at our house and invited 40 couples and set up banquet tables we borrowed from the church … and there was plenty of room! Of all the homes and all the rooms this one is still my very favorite! I wish I had it now for when all the children come home with their kids!

Notice the 1970′s colors! Nothing like orange carpeting to make a cozy little house! And look out for the lovely hand me down furniture too, which was about all we had back then.
