10,054 Words And Typing

nano_participant_icon_largeFinally!  I took the time to do a little browsing on the nanowrimo.org site and found the nifty logo to the left which validates my newly found satisfaction of commitment.     When I first signed up it was only so that I could do it before the deadline … just in case.   I actually was maybe only 10% committed, and that was with my finger’s crossed.     I am now 100% committed, with no fingers crossed … they are too busy typing!    At first I thought I would not be able to type fast enough to keep up with my imagination, once it knew it was being called upon for action and kicked into gear.     That was worth one big belly laugh.    I have plenty of room to grow before my thinker moves faster than I can click it out.   It’s a lot more fun than I anticipated.   In fact, I didn’t anticipate it would be classified as “fun” at all.   I thought it would be stress … and that four letter word I try to avoid since my retirement … W O R K.    Instead, by the 3rd day I was trapped, feeling responsible for a dysfunctional family of five.

My personal deadline is November 25th instead of Nov 30th, because on the 26th I have 3 root canals, and on the 27th I am flying to Washington to spend time with two of our children and their families.   That means I am aiming for 2,500 words (give or take 500) a day.  Fortunately I was a passenger in our car today for 6 hours and was able to scoot myself even farther along than I’d hoped.    Tonight’s word count was 10,054.

I do NOT want you to assume these words make any sense.    I wouldn’t dare!    However, if you would like to read a small excerpt I have posted one on the nanowrimo site, which I think you can get to by clicking here.  (I hope I hope I hope!)

This is one of the biggest challenges I have allowed myself to go into blindly and without a clue as to how to get it done.     Although it is a lot of fun … it is very time consuming and scary!    Wish me luck!     I am going to try my hardest to keep my blog going at the same time … so wish me double luck!
